A Morning Course

  Apples_7_SY_Sept19

A practical course aimed at the beginner, this course will introduce you to the basics of cider making, learning in a small group how to make your own cider from apple juice. Taking home a gallon of your own cider to share with friends and family, you will also keep all the equipment needed to continue this traditional craft at home.

Course Programme:
Saturday, 9.30am - 12.30pm

What To Expect:

1. Introduction To Cider

Find out all about traditional ciders, discussing how the variety of apple can impact on flavour and the different types of cider you can make including perry and fruit ciders.

2. Preparation And Practical Session
A fun, practical session making your own cider from apple juice, preparing you for your own home cider making.  You will gain an introduction to the ingredients needed, how to make, and how to calculate the alcohol content.

3. Preparation For Bottling
A demonstration on how to transfer the cider from the primary vessel into bottles once fermentation has completed (you will need to do this step at home).

Have your own Apples?
If you are lucky enough to have access to an apple crop then this course is perfect to get you ready for the apple season.  Just bring your apples along to our apple day in the Autumn to have them crushed ready for you to use in your own cider.  You can of course also continue this craft using any shop/local prepared apples or juice.

An informal morning learning the joys of brewing your own Cider.

Try a sample of freshly brewed cider and take home a demijohn (around 4 to 5 bottles) of your own cider to share with friends and family.  You will also get to keep all the equipment needed to continue this hobby at home.

Refreshments will be provided, including a homemade cake.

Parking is available at the entrance to our farm and our training room is just a short walk down our track.

What To Bring:

Just bring yourself, confirmation of your booking, a notebook and any questions you may have.

If you are staying for the afternoon Mead course, please bring a packed lunch.

Please arrive at 9.15am for a prompt 9.30am start.
