A One Day Beekeeping Experience

  Beekeeping Experience Day Course  

A great experience for anyone interested in Bees, or considering taking up Beekeeping. You will learn in a small group all about this cherished insect, getting the opportunity to see inside a working Beehive. Taking home; a certificate, a pound of honey, a bee related gift and notes about the honey bee.



Course Programme: 
Saturday: 9.30am - 4.30pm


What To Expect:



1. Introduction to Bees
Learn all about these incredible creatures; the different types, how they live and how to identify them

2. The Honey Bee
Learn a little more about the Honey Bee colony, biology and life cycle

3. British Beekeeping
How British Beekeepers look after the Honey Bee. What is involved in keeping bees, the seasonal duties in the Apiary

4. See Inside a Working Beehive
Time to put on your bee-suit and follow our experienced Beekeeper into our Apiary where you will see inside a hive, seeing where the bees live and store their honey, looking for worker bees, drones and the queen-bee

5. The Honey Harvest
How much honey does a hive produce and how is it taken from the hive? Sample different honey

6. Gardening for Bees
What can you do in your garden to help the bees? Learn about the best plant types and other tips for your gardening


An informal day learning about the Honey Bees, and how you can help.

Try a sample of honey and take home a 1lb (454g) jar of local honey, along with a honey gift, pack of bee-friendly seeds and notes from the day.

Refreshments will be provided, including a buffet lunch and a ‘honey-themed’ cake.

Parking is available at the entrance to our farm and our training room is just short walk down our track.

What To Bring:

Just bring yourself, confirmation of your booking, a notebook and any questions you may have, along with a beesuit, gloves and wellies. A bee-suit will be provided.

If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know in advance.

Where the bees and the weather allow, this day will include an inspection of a hive.

Please arrive at 9.15 for a prompt 9.30 start.
