Nature & appearance:
A friendly natured bird, females generally docile though the males can become a little feisty and protective of their hens during breeding times. An active and busy bird, making a great friend to have around the garden.
Their plumage is stunning, particularly when seen shining in natural sunlight, being of a brassy black with a beetle-green sheen, the females having a red-ginger colouring to the neck.
They have a broad deep well filled out body with feathering to the legs.
The cock birds colouration of deep brown/blacks, reds, golds and almost metallic greens, presents itself as a very desirable ‘look the part’ cockerel.
Famed for the colour of their eggs, often said to be the ‘darkest brown’ there is! (this would of course depend on the actual strain acquired)
Cuivree are the hybrid version of the above, being similar in nature and egg numbers, therefor making an ideal cross breed for hatching.
